Well, Hello… – Release 12.10 Stable


It has been a long long long journey but we have made progress. The task to improve already good qulity does not mean stop when its good enought, it simply means make it better and with the realese of LuninuX OS 12.10 Quite Quail, you will see how much better it have been made. For a list of software that come with release please look in the live cd directory /usr/share/example-content. Some of the major changes are Opera as the default web browser with privacy plugins, Boxes for virtual machines, Open JDK and many more. You can download the release on the Download page and as an option purchase a USB/DVD media that will be mailed to you.

Unstable Release


A new page has been added under the Download page, it will host the Alpha and Beta release of the project. The Unstable currently has all the testing release but only the current once are link correctly… the old links will be updated soon.

12.00 Beta 2 Release


The decision to bring pure Gnome to LuninuX OS in the second release Beta has proved beneficial – you will find many improvements, such as speed, responsiveness, stability and less resource usage. The login prompt is GDM and there are three sessions, Gnome Shell, Gnome Classic, and Gnome Fallback. Many of the applications included is Firefox, Banshee, LibreOffice, Liferea, Gimp, Cairo Dock, Docky, Wine and most of the multimedia plugings. If there is a problem with the autologin for the Live Mode, select a session and type “luninux” as the user name and leave the password blank then login. There are download links below and on the Download page as well. Please try to download it in a few hours. It is being uploaded.

I just finished up with the beta build of LuninuX OS 12.00 Beta, It is base on the beta release of Ubuntu 12.04, I have uploaded it to sourceforge and you can download it now.

Macintosh?


Reginald Pierre asked if a build of LuninuX OS will be available for Macintosh…After thinking about the suggesting, I will consider releasing a version of LuninuX OS for Mac’s. Broadcom wireless drivers will be install along with many proprietary drivers. Furthermore, the anticipated release date for 11.11 “Open Octopus” stable will be November 24, 2011; so for the meantime feel free to send all your feedback on the Alpha and Beta release.
